Harris is looking for a Project Engineer with Design and Plan Check experience to join our dynamic Design & Engineering team. The position requires a general knowledge of water, wastewater, and/or transportation project work including engineering concepts, an understanding of producing Construction Contract Documents (i.e. front-end documents, technical specifications, and construction drawings), and the ability to utilize CAD for leading and developing design projects.
Responsibilities & Duties
Plan Check Lead
o Responsible for plan review of underground utilities (linear water/sewer), verification of quantities, and development project submittal coordination.
o Ability to track multiple project deadlines and budgets while keeping projects on schedule through plan check and construction cycles
o Possess the knowledge and ability to work with municipal reference documents in conjunction with project plans and specifications
o Evaluate design for constructability, maintainability, and operability
o Site visits/meetings with client as necessary
Project Engineer
o Act as and be responsible for design and technical leadership on Roadway, Storm Drain, and similar Transportation projects
o Provide team management and guidance of design engineers and project engineers on projects from conception through engineering support during construction.
o Regular personal interactions with clients, contractors, stakeholders, relevant agencies, and Harris & Associates teams to discuss and resolve project technical matters.
o Accountable for the technical success (design and engineering obligations) of the project.
o Responsible for technical standards compliance, including the use of Client CAD and/or Civil 3D standards.
o Oversee the Scope of Work and technical deliverables of Harris’ sub-consultants.
o Prepare Technical Memorandums and project-related Engineering Reports.
Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum of 8 years of AutoCAD or Microstation experience
• Minimum of 8 years of design and engineering experience
• Bachelor degree in civil engineering, required
• California P.E. license or other state P.E. license with obtainable CA within one year from date of hire
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range offered for this position is $117K-$135K. Actual pay offered will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
