Project Manager, Construction Manager or Inspector w/ municipal exp.

We focus on serving clients in education, transportation, water/wastewater and community service markets.We are currently searching for a Construction Manager to work on project(s) in the Salinas area. 

We are currently looking for Project Managers, Construction Managers and Construction Inspectors to assist with our projects/clients in the Monterey/Salinas area (local candidates highly preferred). 

The Project/Construction Manager is responsible for seeing that the project is constructed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications.

  • Daily interactions with clients, designers, stakeholders, contractors, inspectors, and authorities having jurisdiction on the project. Meet regularly with Harris & Associates’ field office staff to discuss and resolve project matters.
  • Be the hub of the construction project responsible for its success and responsible for facilitating the resolution of all project issues in a fair but firm manner.
  • Assure project is constructed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, permits, budget and schedule. Coordinate and manage Harris sub-consultants, as provided for in the Agreement.
  • Observe, monitor and document the work of the contractor according to established Harris & Associates’ CM procedures, this includes management of all project correspondence (incoming and outgoing) ,including but not limited to oral and written communications, RFIs, Memos to Designer, Field Directives, Clarification Letters, submittals, change orders, and progress payments. 

Inspectors responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling, planning, coordinating, and performing daily site inspections individually or with other inspectors, to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications and codes.
  • Coordinate 3rd-party special material testing inspections.
  • Measure and record pay quantities
  • Monitor time & material (T&M) work.
  • Prepare comprehensive and concise daily reports that reflect the day’s construction activities with abundant detail
  • Maintain up-to-date project records, as delegated by construction manager. This can include as-built drawings, material testing reports, miscellaneous inspection and testing reports, item quantity files, and others as determined by construction manager.
  • Provide daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications and codes.

Education/Experience and other Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience managing all aspects of construction projects.
  • Experience with municipal and/or water projects
  • Experience with Development Inspection and/or CIP Project CM/Inspection
  • Experience with Newforma or similar management software
  • College degree (experience may be substituted where appropriate).
  • Professional license or certifications, highly preferred.
